As the plight of the Palestinians continue to touch the hearts and minds of people, generous Malaysians keep their hopes alive with charity bazaars in the country.
Lawyer turned entrepreneur Sri Shaesta Said joined the noble cause by organising a charity bazaar, at Bangsar Shopping Centre’s West Wing Concourse, on February 7 and 8, 2009.
The bazaar featured fashion, accessories and household products donated by Sri Shaesta’s celebrity and society friends, turning it into a star-studded charitable weekend.
Malaysian songbird Dayang Nurfaizah was spotted manning a stall selling customised t-shirts while popular broadcast personality Zalina Azman’s booth featuring spa products was also a hit with the visitors.
The event also saw activities such as tennis games and challenges and arts and crafts activities for the young and young at heart. The highlight of the bazaar was the auction of luxury items, including a diamond solitaire ring from Fa’iq Jewels.
Scrumptious offerings such as Sheraton Subang’s famous nasi briyani gam, local delights such as thosai and mee goreng, completed this truly Malaysian charity event.
The royal guest of honour, Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom from Pahang took the time to visit the booths at the bazaar while Federal Territories Minister, Dato’ Seri Zulhasnan Rafique was delighted by the spread on offer.
The bazaar, which raised over RM350,000 for medical aid, will be channelled to the Palestinians through Mercy Malaysia.
